We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to design, implement, manage, and support our global network infrastructure. This role will play a key part in ensuring high availability, performance, security, and scalability of enterprise network services.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on, results-driven professional with deep expertise in networking technologies, strong problem-solving skills, and a collaborative mindset. Were looking for someone like that to help us deliver our Campus and Branch network strategy for LAN, WAN and Wireless services.

As a Routing/Switching/W-Fi engineer, you will play a key role in the overall design, engineering and delivery of our Wired and Wireless network solutions across UBS.

Day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Design, plan, establish, and optimize LAN, WAN, WLAN, and cloud-based network infrastructures
  • Support network engineering planning and optimization initiatives across on-prem and hybrid environments
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues using tools like Wireshark or similar
  • Work with application teams to develop software for wireless network onboarding
  • Evaluate and recommend network hardware and software solutions
  • Collaborate with DevOps, cybersecurity, and IT operations teams to support cross-functional initiatives
  • Ensure network documentation is accurate and up to date, including diagrams (Visio), policies, and standard operating procedures (internal NetWiki Tech Notes)
  • Provide tier 3/4 technical support

In addition, you will be responsible for delivering improvements to existing solutions, enhancing overall system stability, reducing operational risk and delivering automated solutions where applicable.

Your team

Youll be part of the global Network End User Network Agile Crew, covering work in both the Office and Wi-Fi POD teams. We are a relatively small team with big ambitions working in a fast-paced network engineering environment.

Network Office and Wi-Fi PODs are responsible for the strategy and success of Wired and Wi-Fi networks deployed within UBS campus locations globally and deliver operational service assurance, stability, and reduction of operational risk. The role is predominately office based as the team are all located in one of the major engineering locations (Switzerland, London, New-York, Pune, Hyderabad, Hong-Kong, or Singapore).

Your experience and skills

  • 5+ years of experience as a network architect/engineer in a large-scale enterprise or data centre environment
  • Good understanding of WAN technologies including SD-WAN, MPLS and Internet based services
  • Good understanding of QoS in a wireless and wired environment
  • Good understanding of certificate-based authentication
  • Good understanding of wireless roaming
  • Familiarity with IEEE 802.11 standards, 802.1x, RADIUS, EAP-TLS, MPSK, TCP/IP, QoS, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, ACLs
  • Minimum networking knowledge at JNCIA, CCNA/CCNP level or above
  • Working experience with Arista, Cisco, Juniper routing/switching platforms
  • Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices
  • A high-level understanding of automation tools (Chef, Puppet, Ansible)
  • Working knowledge of Scripting languages (Perl /Python, Terraform)
  • Working knowledge of Cloud based service offerings from (MS Azure, Amazon AWS)
  • Knowledge about ARUBA Wireless products (AOS8, ClearPass, Airwave) and/or Juniper MIST would be advantageous
  • Exposure to NAC (Network Access Control) systems like Cisco ISE, Forescout or Aruba ClearPass would be advantageous
  • Experience in the delivery of AAA solutions (Aruba ClearPass, Azure AD, SAML) would be advantageous
  • Working knowledge of Cisco Catalyst Centre (formerly known as Cisco DNA Centre) would be advantageous
