Job Description
Database Administrator- MS SQL Server & AWS RDS
Location: Remote
Position: Full-time role
About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in MS SQL Server and AWS RDS to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, experience in performance tuning and optimization, and the ability to recommend and implement best practices for database management. You will play a critical role in ensuring database stability, security, and high performance in real-time production environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, administer, and maintain databases on MS SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL, MariaDB and RDS version of these DBs
- Administer and optimize AWS RDS instances including backups, replication, and failover strategies.
- Analyze database performance and make recommendations for architecture, configuration, and scaling.
- Collaborate with application, DevOps, and cloud teams for seamless database integration.
- Perform real-time troubleshooting of production database issues to ensure minimal downtime, implement and maintain high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions.
- Conduct performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies to enhance database efficiency.
- Work with AWS services like Athena, Glue, RedShift, Step Functions, S3, Lake Formation, DMS, MSK/Kafka
- Operate within AWS cloud-native infrastructure (EC2, VPC, IAM, Security Groups)
- Develop scripts and automate tasks using SQL, PowerShell, Python
- Ensure database security, compliance, and access control in line with organizational policies.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years experience in Database Administration with proven expertise in AWS Cloud Architecture
- Strong hands-on with MS SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL, MariaDB and Amazon RDS version of these DBs
- Experience in AWS Data Engineering & Analytics tools
- Skilled in database design, data modelling, data warehousing, and replication
- Familiarity with source control tools like Git, GitHub, TFS
- Excellent communication skills with executive-level presence
- AWS Certification (Data Engineer Associate / Database Specialty) preferred
Education:
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, IT, or related field
