Job Description
Core Responsibilities of a Prompt Engineer1. Prompt Design and Optimization
- Craft effective prompts to elicit accurate, relevant, and safe outputs from LLMs.
- Optimize prompts for various tasks such as summarization, classification, translation, generation, etc.
- Design prompt templates that can be reused and adapted across multiple contexts.
- Ability to Architect reusable prompt templates for multi-turn conversational flows, including clarification, escalation, human-in-the-loop, and action triggering
2. Experimentation and Evaluation
- Conduct A/B testing of prompt variations to measure output quality.
- Evaluate model responses using both qualitative (e.g. coherence, relevance) and quantitative (e.g. accuracy, F1 score) metrics.
- Perform rigorous testing to minimize hallucinations and biases.
3. Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams
- Work closely with Project managers, data scientists, and agentforce experts to integrate prompt engineering into applications.
- Translate business needs into prompt strategies aligned with product goals.
4. LLM Performance Tuning
- Adjust system and user prompts dynamically based on user inputs and context.
- Apply few-shot or zero-shot learning techniques through structured examples in prompts.
- Integrate tool use via prompt chaining or with APIs (e.g., calling functions, agents, or external data sources).
5. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing
- Maintain a library of tested and validated prompts.
- Create best practices and guidelines for other teams on prompt usage.
- Document edge cases and strategies for error handling and recovery.
