Job Description
Job Title: Manual Test Engineer
Employment Type: Full-Time
Experience Required: 3 to 10 years
Job Summary:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Manual Test Engineer to join our quality assurance team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in manual testing, a strong understanding of software development processes, and a passion for delivering high-quality products. You will be responsible for identifying defects, verifying fixes, and ensuring that applications meet functional and usability requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test cases
- Execute test cases (manual) and analyze results to ensure product quality
- Identify, record, document, and track bugs thoroughly using bug tracking tools
- Collaborate with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and provide QA feedback
- Perform regression, functional, integration, and usability testing across different platforms
- Participate in test planning, estimation, and status reporting
- Validate fixes in post-release/post-implementation testing
- Suggest process improvements to enhance the quality assurance process
- Maintain detailed documentation of test cases, test data, and test execution results
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 3 to 10 years of hands-on experience in manual testing of web, mobile, or desktop applications
- Strong understanding of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes
- Experience with defect tracking tools like JIRA, Bugzilla, or similar
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to write clear, concise, and comprehensive test cases and test scripts
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Understanding of SDLC, STLC, and Agile/Scrum methodologies
Preferred Attributes:
- Exposure to database testing (e.g., writing basic SQL queries)
- Basic understanding of APIs and tools like Postman for API testing
- Familiarity with test management tools such as TestRail or Zephyr
- Experience working in Agile environments
- Passion for delivering high-quality software and continuous improvement
