Active Directory Domain Migration Specialist @ Apptad

Job Summary:

Apptad Inc. is looking for a highly experiencedActive Directory Domain Migration Specialistto support a complex AD environment hosted on AWS. The candidate will be responsible for identifying and implementing a seamless domain name correction strategy that aligns the organizations AD environment with its Google Workspace domains without requiring end-user device rejoining. The engagement also includes the segregation of an existing AD server into two new domains corresponding to existing Google Workspace user groups.

Project Scope:

• Current Environment:
  • Active Directory server hosted onAWS
  • User databaseresides on the same AD server
  • Two domainsunder Google Workspace:
    • Domain A: ~900 users
    • Domain B: ~200 users
• Challenges:
  • Discrepancy between AD user domain and Google Workspace domain
  • Need fordomain name correction or migrationtool without end-user rejoin
  • Segregation of the current AD server intotwo separate domain serversmapped to Workspace domains

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess the current AD and Google Workspace domain structure
• Identify and recommend tools or scripts forseamless domain name migration
• Implement or integratedirectory synchronization solutions
• Minimize end-user impact by avoiding the need to rejoin devices to the domain
• Plan and executesegregation of the current AD serverinto two separate domain forests or trees
• Develop and document a structured migration and rollback plan
• Coordinate with internal IT and cloud teams for smooth execution
• Ensure security and compliance best practices during the transition

Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven expertise inActive Directory Domain Services (ADDS),AWS-hosted AD, andAzure AD
• Hands-on experience withdomain renaming, migration, or re-structuring
• Proficiency with tools likeADMT (Active Directory Migration Tool),Azure AD Connect, or third-party migration utilities
• Strong knowledge ofGoogle Workspace directory synchronizationand user mapping
• Familiarity withPowerShell scriptingfor automation and migration tasks
• Deep understanding ofGroup Policies, DNS, authentication protocols, and domain trust relationships
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Microsoft certification (e.g.,MCSA, MCSE, or Azure Administrator Associate) is preferred

Nice to Have:

• Experience in environments with 1,000+ users
• Working knowledge ofcross-domain group policy replication
• Past involvement inmulti-domain forest design and deployment
