ETL QA Engineer @ Apptad

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented ETL QA Engineer with strong expertise in SQL and Data Warehouse testing to join our quality assurance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for validating data pipelines, ensuring data integrity, and supporting the development and testing of robust ETL processes across our enterprise data platforms.

• Design, develop, and execute test plans and test cases for ETL processes, data migrations, and data transformations.
• Perform data validation between source and target systems using advanced SQL queries.
• Validate large datasets from various data sources like flat files, relational databases, APIs, or data lakes.
• Review and validate ETL mappings, workflows, and data models for completeness and accuracy.
• Identify, analyze, and log defects in the defect management system; assist in root cause analysis and resolution.
• Work closely with Data Engineers, Business Analysts, and Product Owners to understand data requirements and ensure test coverage.
• Develop automated testing scripts (if applicable) for regression and performance testing of data pipelines.
• Ensure that data quality, consistency, and compliance with business rules are met.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience in ETL testing and data validation.
• Strong proficiency in SQL ability to write complex queries, joins, aggregations, subqueries, and perform data profiling.
• Good understanding of ETL tools such as Informatica, Talend, SSIS, DataStage, Apache NiFi, etc. (depending on the company stack).
• Familiarity with data warehouse concepts, star/snowflake schemas, and OLAP/OLTP systems.
• Experience with data quality testing, negative testing, boundary testing, and reconciliation testing.
• Hands-on experience with defect tracking tools like JIRA, Azure DevOps, or Bugzilla.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and services like Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake, or Azure Synapse is a plus.
• Experience with automation frameworks (PyTest, Selenium, etc.) is a plus but not mandatory.
