Job Description

Job Title: Manager Hazardous Waste Management (India)

Location: [Aurangabad]
Department: [Waste Management]
Reports To: [Logistics Head]

Job Summary:

The Hazardous Waste Manager is responsible for overseeing the proper handling, storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous waste materials in accordance with state, and local regulations. This role ensures compliance with environmental laws and promotes a safe and sustainable waste management program across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage hazardous waste programs and policies.
  • Maintain compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Identify, label, store, and coordinate the disposal of hazardous waste materials.
  • Prepare and submit required reports.
  • Manage relationships with waste disposal vendors and contractors.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of waste storage and handling areas.
  • Lead employee training on hazardous waste handling, spill response, and compliance.
  • Investigate and respond to spills, leaks, and waste-related incidents.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of waste inventory and disposal records.
  • Collaborate with EHS and operations teams to minimize hazardous waste generation.
  • Comply with legal requirements of Hazardous Waste Management Rules & CTO conditions of plants.
  • Audit compliances of Zero Waste to Landfill certification.
  • Vendor site audits for ensuring compliances
  • Encouraging co-processing, recycling & life cycle management of Hazardous Waste, Solid Waste & Other Waste.
  • Tracking movement of HW vehicles & ensuring safe delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field (required).
  • 5-7 years of experience in hazardous waste management or EHS compliance.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or similar certification (preferred).
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and work in regulated environments.

Working Conditions:

  • Mix of office and field work, including exposure to waste handling areas.
  • May require occasional travel to satellite facilities or vendor locations.
