Job Description

Determine if a prior authorization/pre-certification is required for proposed medical services, procedures, medications, or admissions based on CPT/ICD codes and payer guidelines.
Initiate, prepare, and submit authorization requests to insurance companies within required timelines.
Gather and submit all necessary clinical documentation (e.g., medical necessity forms, clinical notes, test results, physician orders) to support authorization requests.
Proactively follow up with payers on the status of pending authorizations to ensure timely approval.
Document all authorization numbers, approval/denial reasons, and relevant communication in the patient record and billing system
