Role & responsibilities

Main Skillset Required

Programming & Automation Framework Development

• Strong coding in Java, Node.js, or PHP
  
• Building scalable, reusable automation frameworks
  
• Writing high-quality test code, test harnesses, and helper libraries
  

Test Strategy & Quality Engineering

• Designing test strategies across:
  
• Unit testing
  
• Integration testing
  
• Contract testing
  
• Performance testing
  
• System testing
  
• Promoting shift-left, developer-first quality
  
• Driving BDD, TDD, Specification by Example
  

Test Tools & Frameworks

• Tools such as:
  
• JUnit, TestNG (Java)
  
• Jest, Jasmine, Karma (JavaScript)
  
• Cypress, Playwright (UI automation)
  
• Appium (Mobile)
  
• WireMock (Mocking/Service Virtualization)
  

API & Contract Testing

• REST API testing
  
• Contract testing
  
• Service virtualization
  
• Using Postman, WireMock, or equivalent
  

CI/CD & Infrastructure

• CI/CD pipelines:
  
• Jenkins, GitHub Actions
  
• Docker and Infrastructure as Code
  
• Ensuring tests are fast, parallelized, reliable
  

Mocking & Controlled Data

• Using mocking frameworks, test doubles
  
• Generating controlled, deterministic test data
  

Developer Enablement & Collaboration

• Creating local testing environments for developers
  
• Providing helper libraries and APIs for testing
  
• Mentoring on TDD, BDD, mocking strategies
  
• Working with DevOps, Product, and Architecture teams
