Job Title: Cloud Infrastructure & FinOps Engineer (Azure/GCP)

About the Role:
As a key member of our technology leadership, you will be responsible for optimizing and evolving our cloud infrastructure strategy. With monthly cloud spend exceeding $30,000 and growing, were looking for a hands-on engineer who can reduce costs, design efficient infrastructure, and introduce FinOps best practices to make our cloud usage smarter and more sustainable.
Youll lead the charge in cost control across Azure and GCP, introduce automation and DevOps efficiencies, evaluate and deploy cloud cost optimization tools, and collaborate closely with engineering and operations teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and optimize cloud spend across Azure and GCP environments.
- Design scalable and cost-efficient infrastructure solutions (VMs, disks, storage).
- Establish and implement FinOps practices to align cloud usage with business goals.
- Identify and eliminate unused/underutilized resources through audits and tagging policies.
- Select and deploy cloud cost management tools (e.g., CloudHealth, Azure Advisor, GCP Cost Tools).
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and scaling using DevOps best practices (e.g., Terraform, CI/CD, IaC).
- Monitor, report, and forecast cloud spend. Present actionable insights to leadership.
- Working closely with developers and tech leads to guide architectural decisions that impact cost.
- Create dashboards and alerts for cost anomalies and efficiency KPIs.
Education & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure roles, with a strong focus on Azure and/or GCP.
- Proven experience in cloud cost optimization, FinOps, and DevOps practices.
- Solid understanding of VMs, disks, object storage, networking, and load balancers in cloud platforms.
- Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, ARM templates, Deployment Manager, etc.).
- Familiarity with scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Python, etc.) and automation frameworks.
- Knowledge of tools like Azure Cost Management, GCP Cost Explorer, CloudHealth, or Spot.io (or willingness to evaluate and deploy).
- Strong analytical and communication skills to interpret and present cost data to leadership.
Skills & Competencies:
- FinOps Foundation certification or exposure to FinOps principles.
- Experience setting up budgets, alerts, resource tagging, and chargeback models.
- Experience with Kubernetes or container orchestration (if planned for future).
- Previous experience reducing cloud costs at scale in a growing SaaS/product company.
What Success Looks Like:
- 1530% reduction in baseline cloud costs within 612 months.
- Complete visibility into cloud spending across departments.
- Automated cost controls and infrastructure deployment workflows.
- Cloud costs aligned with engineering and business goals through FinOps discipline.
