Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Java & ETL developer to join our IT Finance team. The ideal candidate should have significant experience developing software applications in Java and Groovy, developing SQL queries, creating and maintaining reports, ideally in the Retail Finance and Accounting industry. The candidate should have a solid understanding of software development practices.

The ideal candidate should possess strong communication skills, demonstrate the ability to collaborate with other team members including developers, project managers, business analysts, business users and various levels of management. The candidate should be effective in the use of time, demonstrate a strong sense of project urgency along with an ability to work under pressure while still delivering on schedule. The experience should show that the candidate can effectively work on multiple projects at one time - prioritizing their daily work to meet the needs of the projects. The candidate should be able to work independently and to learn quickly.

Required Candidate profile

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review requirements, specifications and documentation to gain a thorough understanding of reports and queries to be developed and maintained
  • Develop parameterized reports in SQL server and iSeries DB2 using tables, views stored procedures, SQL
  • Maintain applications, monitor its operations and resolve issues. Take corrective action on problems as they occur
  • Coordinate with developers, business analysts, business users and management to communicate results and resolve defects
  • Identify software issues, create well documented tickets in defect management systems and provide appropriate follow-up to get the issue resolved
  • Provide or validate estimates for assigned tasks
  • Develop and maintain scripts to support business processes. Run or schedules scripts according to business needs

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Experience, Skills and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university in Business, Computer Science, Technology or related field
  • 7+ years of experience working with Crystal Reports, SQL Server, IBM iSeries DB2 using ODBC, JDBC and native connections
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to learn quickly.
  • Ability to develop software writing code in Java, Groovy, perform ETL operations and monitor critical business applications.
  • Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agile Methodology
  • Understanding of software version control
  • Must be able to work independently as well as cross functionally with a team to execute tasks and projects and achieve desired results
  • Must be organized and possess strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Intellectual curiosity and drive to investigate issues and develop deep subject matter expertise
  • Flexible and positive attitude; proven experience partnering with business and technical teams, clearly articulating business priorities and managing through conflict
  • Adept at identifying needed process improvements for key functions
  • Ability to adapt plans and react to change
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
  • Self-managed, highly motivated and have a strong drive for results
  • Needs to be fluent in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint
  • Must have strong SQL skills and the ability to write and debug stored procedures

Preferred Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in Retail Finance and Accounting industry with good understanding of accounts payables, general ledger, etc.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
  • Experience working with Lawson and ImageNow
  • Experience developing Tableau reports
