Business Unit:
Cubic Transportation Systems
As part of the Global Operations Systems Team, reporting to the IT Systems Team Leader, you will be a key liaison, working closely with colleagues and customers to ensure in-house or deployed systems and devices are kept current and functional. You will assist in implementing strategies for Central System and Device application deployment, manage application installations and configuration.
You will support and administer Central System on cross platform Operating Systems such as Windows, AIX, UNIX, LINUX in close coordination with the Infrastructure and Engineering groups. You will ensure Central System applications and Device application migrations, upgrades and installations are well rehearsed and documented prior to conducting official installations.

Job Summary: As a Senior Application Support Engineer, you ll be an integral part of the Global Operations Systems team, reporting to the IT Systems Team Lead. You will manage and maintain critical in-house and deployed systems and applications, ensuring maximum availability, reliability, and performance. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deploy applications, troubleshoot complex issues, and support both cloud and on-prem infrastructure in a fast-paced, 24x7 production environment.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day administration and health of applications and infrastructure.
- Perform installation, configuration, upgrades, and troubleshooting of applications across cloud and on-prem platforms.
- Ensure secure, high-performance deployments using automation tools and CI/CD pipelines.
- Support containerized applications on Docker/Kubernetes (AKS preferred).
- Collaborate with project managers, developers, QA, and infrastructure teams to support deployments and changes.
- Manage and maintain backend OS environments (Windows, Linux, UNIX).
- Handle system backup, restore, and failover for application environments.
- Document configurations, deployment processes, and technical procedures.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call support rotation.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior team members.
- Conduct performance tuning and assist with network and database configurations.
Required Technical Skills & Experience:
- Five (5)+ years of experience in application support or system administration roles.
- Strong experience with Middleware Technologies : WebLogic / Tomcat (Mandatory).
- Operating Systems: Windows and Linux (mandatory).
- Scripting: Bash, PowerShell, or Python (good to have).
- Cloud Platforms: Azure / AWS .
- Containerization: Docker and Kubernetes (AKS preferred).
- CI/CD: GitHub / GitLab, Jenkins, Azure DevOps pipelines .
- Artifact Management: JFrog, HashiCorp Vault, or similar .
- Monitoring Tools: SolarWinds, AppDynamics (mandatory); Prometheus, Splunk (nice to have).
- Solid understanding of database environments, especially Oracle or equivalent.
- Exposure to tools such as Postman , SQL Developer , Ansible , JIRA , ServiceNow , and TestRail .
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. Equivalent work experience is acceptable.
- Proven experience with third-party COTS applications (e. g. , Apache Kafka, Zookeeper, Apigee).
- Proficiency in SQL and relational databases (e. g. , SQL Server, Oracle).
Preferred Qualifications:
- ITIL Foundation certification or experience working in ITIL-governed environments.
- Prior experience supporting applications in mission-critical production settings.
- Experience with scripting/automation tools (e. g. , Ansible, Terraform).
- Familiarity with SAP, Microsoft CRM, or similar enterprise applications.
- Exposure to public cloud cost management and governance practices.
