Job Description
Position Overview: The Webmaster is a pivotal role within the digital marketing and IT team, responsible for the overall management, performance, and optimization of the organization's website. This position requires a blend of technical skills, creative design abilities, and strategic thinking, particularly in SEO, PHP, JavaScript, and UI/UX design. The Webmaster will ensure that the website not only meets business goals but also provides a seamless and engaging user experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Website Management:
- Daily Operations: Monitor website uptime, performance, and accessibility across different devices and browsers.
- Content Updates: Regularly update website content, including text, images, videos, and infographics to keep the site fresh and relevant.
- Backup and Recovery: Implement and manage backup solutions to secure website data and facilitate recovery in case of failure.
SEO Optimization:
- On-Page SEO: Optimize website elements such as title tags, meta descriptions, header tags, and alt text to improve search visibility.
- Technical SEO: Conduct audits to ensure proper indexing, mobile-friendliness, and site speed. Address issues such as broken links, duplicate content, and crawl errors.
- Content Strategy: Collaborate with content creators to develop keyword-rich articles, blogs, and landing pages that align with SEO best practices.
- Analytics and Reporting: Use Google Analytics, SEMrush, or similar tools to track traffic, user behavior, and conversion rates. Generate monthly reports to evaluate performance and recommend improvements.
Development Skills:
- Web Development: Write clean, efficient code using PHP and JavaScript to create custom functionalities, plugins, and interactive features.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and fix bugs or performance issues promptly to minimize downtime and enhance user experience.
- Version Control: Utilize version control systems like Git to manage code changes and collaborate with other developers.
- Design Implementation: Translate wireframes and designs into functional web pages, ensuring adherence to brand guidelines and design principles.
- User Testing: Conduct A/B testing and usability studies to gather insights on user interactions and preferences. Analyze results to inform design iterations.
- Accessibility Standards: Ensure compliance with WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) to make the website accessible to users with disabilities.
Collaboration:
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, sales, and IT teams to align website goals with broader business objectives.
- Project Management: Participate in project planning and execution, providing technical insights and feasibility assessments for new projects or features.
- Stakeholder Communication: Regularly communicate progress and updates to stakeholders, addressing any concerns or feedback in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Web Development, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience as a Webmaster, Web Developer, or similar role. - Proven track record of managing websites and implementing SEO strategies that have led to measurable improvements in traffic and engagement.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and experience with frameworks such as React or Angular.
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress, Joomla, or Drupal, and their customization.
- Knowledge of version control systems, preferably Git.
- Analytical Skills:
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions. - Proficiency in using web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Google Search Console) and SEO tools (e.g., Moz, Ahrefs).
- Design Skills:
- Understanding of UI/UX design principles and experience in creating user-centered designs.
- Familiarity with design tools such as Adobe XD, Figma, or Sketch is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with e-commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, Magento) and understanding of online sales processes.
- Basic knowledge of graphic design and multimedia content creation.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
