Job Description
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and experienced Data Annotation Specialist to join our AI/ML team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in labeling multimodal data (image, text, video, audio) for machine learning applications and a proven ability to maintain high-quality annotation standards. This role requires a mix of technical proficiency, domain awareness, and strong quality assurance capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Annotate image, text, video, and multimodal datasets for AI/ML model training.
- Perform object detection, classification, and tagging in visual data.
- Conduct text annotation for intent detection, sentiment analysis, and named entity recognition (NER).
- Execute video annotation for activity recognition and event labeling.
- Apply quality assurance (QA) standards across annotation tasks and provide feedback to maintain consistency.
- Use industry-standard annotation tools such as Labelbox, CVAT, Prodigy, AWS SageMaker Ground Truth, and Scale AI platforms.
- Interpret and implement complex annotation guidelines with minimal supervision.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine annotation schema and ensure data readiness for model training pipelines.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in data labeling/annotation across multiple data types.
- Proficiency with annotation platforms including (but not limited to) Labelbox, CVAT, Prodigy, and AWS Ground Truth.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy in repetitive tasks.
- Familiarity with QA processes in the data annotation lifecycle.
- Basic understanding of machine learning workflows and data preparation.
- Experience working with complex annotation guidelines and adapting to evolving task requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Domain knowledge in Natural Language Processing (NLP), Computer Vision, or Speech Recognition.
- Experience with scripting languages like Python for data preprocessing, automation, or QA validation.
- Prior experience in leading annotation teams or managing projects with distributed contributors.
- Familiarity with agile project management tools such as Jira or Asana.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong collaboration mindset, capable of working with interdisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize effectively.
- Proactive problem-solver with a keen eye for process optimization.
