Job Description

• Has a solid understanding of reliability concerns, can recognize them in the wild or implicit in designs. Can implement solutions to them and give recommendation to others on how to do the same.
• Can evaluate existing and proposed solutions for reliability, scale and performance concerns, and make realistic, practical recommendations for improvement.
• Ensures the team develops solutions that are reliable, scalable and performant.
• Utilizes appropriate metrics to identify and drive real reliability and performance improvements. Proactively identifies potential issues with applications or architectures using Observability data. Able to contribute best-practice knowledge back to the org in this regard.
• Recognizes common reliability, scalability and performance anti-patterns.
• Proactively (e.g. outside of retros) drives improvements to observability, by identifying gaps and engaging with product teams.
• Able to prescribe the correct monitoring approaches to take (metrics, logs, traces) in the platforms they support to ensure adequate observability.
• Understand use cases for and when to use custom metrics, logs and traces.
