Job Description
Costing Engineer
Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed cost estimates for components, assemblies, and full vehicle systems, considering materials, labor, tooling, and overheads.
Analyz cost structures and variances to identify opportunities for cost reduction and value engineering.
Collaborate with procurement, design, and finance teams to validate supplier quotes and ensure alignment with budget targets.
Support make-or-buy decisions by evaluating internal manufacturing capabilities versus outsourcing options.
Maintain and update cost databases, BOMs, and pricing models using ERP systems.
Participate in product development reviews to ensure cost targets are met throughout the lifecycle.
Skills Required:
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and supply chain economics.
Proficiency in costing software and ERP platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications for cost estimation.
Effective communication and collaboration across departments.
