As an Application Modernization Specialist, you will be responsible for evaluating, strategizing, and executing the modernization of legacy applications to contemporary architectures and platforms. Your role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to assess existing systems, identify areas for improvement, and implement modernization solutions that enhance performance, scalability, and maintainability. You will leverage your expertise in various modernization techniques, such as re-platforming, re-hosting, re-factoring, and containerization, to drive the transformation of legacy applications into cloud-native, microservices-based, or serverless architectures.
Key Responsibilities:
Assessment and Analysis:
Comprehensively assess legacy applications to identify technical challenges, performance bottlenecks, and obsolete technologies. Analyze business requirements and stakeholder needs to align modernization efforts with organizational objectives. Develop strategies.
Develop tailored modernization strategies based on assessment findings, considering factors such as cost, risk, timeline, and impact on business operations.
Collaborate with architecture teams to define target architectures and technology stacks for modernized applications.
Execution and Implementation:
Lead or contribute to the implementation of modernization initiatives, including re-platforming, re-hosting, re-factoring, containerization, and cloud migration.
Work closely with development teams to ensure adherence to best practices, coding standards, and architectural guidelines during the modernization process.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, architects, DevOps engineers, and business stakeholders, to drive consensus and alignment on modernization objectives and priorities.
Communicate progress, challenges, and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences through clear and concise documentation, presentations, and status reports.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices related to application modernization.
Proactively identify opportunities to optimize and enhance existing modernization processes, tools, and methodologies.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Professional, AWS Certified Security Specialty, or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional are highly desirable
