Job Title: HMC Setter Programmer

Job Overview: The HMC (Horizontal Machining Center) Programmer Setter is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating horizontal machining centers to produce precision parts according to engineering specifications. This role requires expertise in CNC programming, machine setup, and troubleshooting to ensure efficient production processes and adherence to quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. CNC Programming:

   • Develop CNC programs using CAM software (e.g., NX , Autoacad) based on engineering drawings, models, and specifications.
   • Optimize programs for tool paths, speeds, feeds, and machining strategies to maximize efficiency and quality.
   • Review and modify existing programs as needed to improve productivity and meet production requirements.

2. Machine Setup and Operation:

   • Set up horizontal machining centers by installing fixtures, tooling, and workpieces according to setup sheets and instructions.
   • Conduct tool changes, tool offsets, and workpiece alignments to ensure accurate machining processes.
   • Operate HMCs to produce parts within specified tolerances and surface finish requirements.

3. Quality Assurance:

   • Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMM) to verify dimensional accuracy and quality of machined parts.
   • Monitor machining processes and make adjustments as necessary to maintain quality standards and prevent non-conformities.
   • Identify and troubleshoot issues related to machining operations, tool wear, or programming errors, and implement corrective actions.

4. Documentation and Reporting:

   • Maintain accurate records of production activities, including setup sheets, tooling logs, and inspection reports.
   • Document any deviations from standard procedures and communicate them to appropriate personnel for resolution.
   • Provide feedback to engineering and production teams regarding opportunities for process improvement or optimization.

5. Safety and Compliance:

   • Adhere to all safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
   • Follow company policies and guidelines related to quality management systems, including ISO standards and customer requirements.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in machining or related field preferred.
• Proven experience as a CNC programmer setter, particularly with horizontal machining centers.
• Proficiency in CNC programming languages (e.g., G-code, M-code) and CAD/CAM software.
• Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling selection, and cutting parameters.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T), and work instructions.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
