Job Description

Calix is looking for a Systems Administrator to join a high performing Product Operations and Engineering team. This team delivers infrastructure services supporting the development of next generation networking and SaaS products. The ideal candidate has experience with, virtualization, modern IT service management, DevOps, Agile methodology, product development lifecycle, and best practices. Role Description: The Systems Administrator Engineering Operations Infrastructure would need to have at least 2-4 years of experience. In this role you will work closely with software development and product teams to deliver virtual infrastructure services, using various technologies like VMWare, AWS, and/or other public cloud providers, deployed around the world. You will collaborate with other support teams to deliver the infrastructure services required by development staff. You will work as a team to ensure that systems are available, secure, and delivered to customers promptly. You will. also work on improving the services the team are delivering, suggesting upgrades, patching strategies, service level agreements and other IT service management strategies. Successful candidates will have a technical background, understand tools and processes supporting engineering and software development, be detail driven and have strong problem-solving abilities. You should not only be passionate about delivering robust, reliable, on-time solutions, but should also be obsessed with contributing to the development of high-performance teams through a standards-based approach, dedicated customer service mindset, and the application of ITIL best practices Responsibilities: Administration of core technologies including converged infrastructure, storage systems, server hardware, networking, and virtualization technologies. Administration of operating systems including Linux and Windows. Manage and prioritize work queue through request and incident tickets. Participate with critical incident response activities, including investigation, and resolution. Documentation of systems, including but not limited to configuration management and support processes. Identify and resolve a wide range of novel issues. Collaborate with internal personnel at all levels of the organization. Document requirements from stakeholders and translate to actionable tasks. Propose solutions using best practices. Collaborate with external partners and vendors. Work with vendors to stay informed on the latest technologies. Participate in vendor performance reviews (systems health checks, best practice, solutions development). Develop metrics, track, and proactively improve productivity of the team. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualification & Skills: 2-4 years of experience in IT or related systems administration role. Excellent oral & written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skill. Strong organization skills. Ability to evaluate and prioritize tasks in an evolving environment. Ability to work independently. Familiarity with business process and policies. Ability to analyze data and recommend solutions that balance risk to business with no need for service interruptions. Ability to show root cause of an issue. Availability for off hours meetings to support offshore teams. Minimum 4-year degree or similar technical training. Occasional travel as required. Desired Skills: Cybersecurity mindset. Experience with IP networking, virtual networking (VLANs, Subnets, Routing, DNS, MAC Filtering). Experience with hypervisor administration (KVM, Hyper-V). Experience with Public Cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure). Familiar with Containers, Docker, Kubernetes. Familiar with IT Service management, ITIL methodology. Converged/hyperconverged infrastructure. SAN/NAS storage (NFS, CIFS, iSCSI/Block). Automation technologies and scripting (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Bash, Perl, Python, etc.). User identity, access, authorization (Active Directory, LDAP, NIS). Software development methods (Agile /Lean Agile, Scrum). Location: Bangalore, India
