Job Position: ESTIMATOR NEEDED FOR ARCHITECTURAL METAL / SIGNAGE / GLASS Job Responsibilities: Work with Sales Team to Identify Bidding Opportunities Estimate: Architectural Metals & Glass Ornamental Metals Signage Doors It is critical that you know the market price for Bidding and have an intuitive sense of what the market will bear upon initial examination. Review Architectural Drawings for Bids Identifying Relevant Scopes of Work within the Contract Documents Including Architectural Metals & Glass, Ornamental Metals, Signage and Doors Organize and Understand Bid / Contract Documents (Trade Contract, Scope Drawings, Specifications, Exhibits and Addendums, Correspondence) Perform Take offs from Drawings Mark-Up Drawings Compile List of Type of Materials or Equipment Requirements, Utilizing Knowledge of Services to Be Performed, or Type of Structure to Be Built Using Blueprints and Specifications Itemize Tools, Fixtures, or Equipment to Be. Manufactured by Company or Purchased from Outside Sources Create Scopes of Work Contact Vendors / Subcontractors for Pricing Compute Cost Estimates for Materials, Purchased Equipment, Subcontracted Work, Production Activities, Requirements, and Labor Enter All Costs into Software & Spreadsheets Conduct Field Surveys to Ensure that Drawings & Pricing are Accurate Work with Purchasing to Identify Long Lead Items at the Start of Each New Project Work with Sales & Administrative Staff to Create & Submit Complete Bids to GCs, CMs, City & State Agencies, Etc. Attending De-Scope Meetings with Clients Develop Preliminary Project Schedule Develop Preliminary Schedule of Values Provide Support for the Development of Bidding Strategies by Debriefing the Salesperson of Job Elements Negotiate Contracts with the Assistance of Management Turning Over Contracts by Means of a Kick-Off Meeting with Project Management and Detailing Price Out Relevant Change Orders as Required May Perform Other Tasks as Required or Directed Occasional Travel Required Required Background / Skills: At Least 5+ Years of Estimating Experience in the Construction / Ornamental Metals Fabrication Experience in Decorative / Ornamental / Finish Work with Metal and Glass Products Experienced with / Knowledgeable of Fabrication & Installation Processes, Different Metals (Aluminum, Bronze, Carbon, Stainless), Glass. Knowledge of Various Material Including but Limited to Steel, Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Brass, Plastics, Polycarbonate, Wood, Etc. Knowledge of Finishes Including but Not Limited to Metal Finishes, Paints, Powder Coating, Anodizing, Patinas, Etc. Thorough Knowledge Estimating Procedures in the Construction Industry Knowledge of General Building Construction Ability to Read Structural, Electrical & Architectural Drawings Proficient in Construction Estimating Software such as Bluebeam & Plan Swift.
