Job Description
- As our Senior DBA, youll be instrumental in managing our database ecosystem.
- This includes operational responsibilities, performance optimization, security measures, and playing a collaborative role in feature development.
- Your expertise will ensure our databases are not just functional but optimized and secure, supporting our global operations from Mumbai.
Key Responsibilities:
- Database Management: Operate and maintain our primary database (MariaDB on AWS RDS), ensuring optimal performance and availability.
- Data Migration:
- Oversee the seamless transfer of data across various databases and storage platforms, ensuring integrity and minimal downtime.

- Installation and Configuration:
- Execute the installation, configuration, and periodic upgrading of database systems to meet organizational needs and technological advancements.

- Backup and Recovery:
- Design and implement comprehensive backup and recovery strategies to safeguard against data loss, including routine backup schedules and rigorous testing of recovery procedures.

- Security: Implement robust security measures, control user access and permissions, and collaborate with the development team to ensure compliance with data protection regulations, including for test data production, while also implementing data masking to protect sensitive information.
- Performance Optimization: Analyze database performance, including query optimization, schema refinement, and managing data storage solutions.
- Monitoring and Alerting : Establish continuous monitoring and alerting mechanisms to proactively detect and address database performance issues, ensuring system reliability and efficiency.
- Collaboration: Work closely with development teams on new feature integration, offering expertise in database design and management, and serve as the go-to expert for consulting on database query writing
- Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation on database configurations, processes, and procedures, ensuring clarity and accessibility for all relevant team members.
- Innovation: Drive innovation by proposing and executing enhancements to minimize stored procedures and refine table relationships for optimal database performance.
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a DBA, with a strong focus on AWS RDS, SQL, and cloud-based data storage solutions like S3 and DocumentDB.
- Demonstrated expertise in database security, backup solutions, and performance optimization.
- Proficiency in relational database management and SQL, with a keen analytical mindset for problem-solving.
Desired Attributes:
- AWS or relevant cloud platform certifications.
- Familiarity with agile development processes and collaboration tools.
- A comprehensive knowledge of data catalogue tools, data masking techniques and their advantages is greatly preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical team members.
