Overview

As a Teppan Chef on our global cruise ship, you'll be the star of our teppanyaki grill station, delighting guests with your culinary skills and entertaining showmanship. This role demands exceptional cooking techniques, guest interaction, and a passion for Japanese cuisine.

Responsibilities

Teppanyaki Cooking

  • Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, and vegetables on the teppanyaki grill using traditional Japanese cooking methods.
  • Engage guests with entertaining cooking techniques and lively interaction throughout the dining experience.

Menu Execution

  • Follow standardized recipes to ensure consistency in taste and presentation of teppanyaki dishes.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to innovate and develop new teppanyaki offerings.

Quality Control

  • Maintain food safety standards and conduct regular quality checks on ingredients and finished dishes.

Guest Interaction

  • Interact with guests, explaining cooking techniques and accommodating special requests or dietary needs.
  • Create an engaging and entertaining atmosphere at the teppanyaki grill station.

Team Collaboration

  • Coordinate with kitchen and serving staff to ensure efficient service and guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a teppanyaki chef or hibachi chef, preferably in a high-volume restaurant, hotel, or cruise ship environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine and traditional teppanyaki cooking techniques.
  • Exceptional culinary skills, including proficiency in knife work, grilling, and food presentation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and entertain guests while maintaining professionalism.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required in a cruise ship setting.
  • Fluent in English; additional language skills, especially Japanese, are advantageous.
