Job Description

• Provide leadership and direction to the nursing staff in the neurology department, including registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and nursing assistants, ensuring adherence to established policies, procedures, and standards of care.
• Coordinate and oversee the daily operations of the neurology unit, including patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, bed management, and staffing assignments to optimize patient flow and resource utilization.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, including neurologists, neurosurgeons, nurse practitioners, therapists, and social workers, to develop and implement patient care plans based on assessment findings, diagnosis, and treatment goals.
• Conduct regular rounds on the unit to assess patient acuity, monitor care delivery, and address any patient or family concerns, ensuring prompt resolution and satisfaction.
• Ensure that nursing care is delivered in accordance with evidence-based practices, professional standards, and regulatory requirements specific to neurology nursing, such as stroke care protocols, seizure management, and neurosurgical interventions.
• Provide clinical guidance, mentorship, and support to nursing staff, promoting professional growth, competence, and accountability in neurology nursing practice.
• Participate in the recruitment, orientation, and training of new nursing staff members, ensuring competency assessment and compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
• Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and recognize achievements of nursing staff, fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with nursing leadership and quality improvement teams to identify opportunities for process improvement, patient safety initiatives, and quality metrics related to neurology patient care outcomes.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, care interventions, and outcomes in electronic health records (EHR) or other designated systems, maintaining confidentiality and privacy of patient information.
