Job Description
Patronus Research LLP is a quantitative trading firm that is steering financial markets with advanced technologies. We are seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer to join our quantitative trading firm, Patronus Research LLP. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our ultra-low latency trading network infrastructure. This role requires expertise in network architecture, routing protocols, latency optimization, and network security to support our demanding trading operations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement high-performance, low-latency network solutions to support our trading systems.
- Configure and optimize network devices, including switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers, to ensure maximum throughput and minimal latency.
- Collaborate with traders, developers, and operations teams to understand network requirements and implement solutions that meet performance objectives.
- Monitor network performance and analyze traffic patterns to identify and resolve bottlenecks and optimize performance.
- Provide network support for production, office, and end user environments
- Perform moves, adds, and changes in the network
- Perform market connectivity tests and circuit migrations
- Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access controls, to protect sensitive trading data.
- Develop and maintain network documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for network configurations and troubleshooting.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and best practices to improve network performance, reliability, and security.
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to network-related incidents and emergencies in a timely manner.
- Liaising with third parties to maintain communication lines and data center infrastructure.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior network engineers and IT staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a network engineer in a Quantitative trading or financial services environment.
- Solid knowledge of Cisco IOS/NxOS and other network operating system.
- Expertise in network design, architecture, and protocols, including TCP/IP, UDP, multicast, and routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF).
- Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices, including firewalls, VPNs, encryption, and secure access controls.
- Knowledge of scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python, Ansible) for network configuration and management is a plus.
- Certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent are desirable.
- Systems administration experience (a plus)
- Strong knowledge of datacenter installation and cabling standards
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
