Job Description

Role & responsibilities

  • Extensive experience in design and development of Automotive exterior trims.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive standards, safety requirements and regulations.
  • Minimum 4 yrs experience in New Part Development.
  • Strong communication skill is mandatory.
  • Exceptional CATIA V5 Skills. 3DX experience will be preferred.
  • Good Knowledge in GD&T, Teamcenter & Vismockup.
  • Highly committed and motivated. Should be a self-starter.
  • Final job family will be decided based on the experience of the candidate.
  • Strong understanding of plastic product design and manufacturing processes.
  • Should be able to independently design exterior trims and to take technical decisions with D&R Engineers and suppliers as required.
  • Prior experience of performing benchmarking, packaging studies on exterior trims and defining their locations in vehicle.
  • Conversant with Vehicle Architecture, Vehicle Aggregate Groups, Sub- Groups, Systems and Sub- Systems.
  • Good experience in working with styling and design teams to translate aesthetic concepts into functional designs.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, project management and communication skills.
  • Proficient in deciding manufacturing feasibility, assembly and service feasibility.
  • Designing and developing exterior trim components such as Bumpers, grilles, cladding, functional trims etc.
  • Understanding the geometric requirements within the context of the vehicle as defined by engineering requirements.
  • Developing CAD Design in Catia based on Engineering directions.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that the design meets the the functional and manufacturing requirements.
  • Participating in design reviews to gather feedback and make necessary revisions.
  • Populating the Design in Vehicle context and attach to Digital vehicle structure.
  • Managing the release process for chassis components and change management.
  • Applying GD &T for completed designs.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance design.
