• Technical Knowledge: A candidate should be well-versed in mechanics, manufacturing procedures, materials, and related disciplines

• Creativity: A design engineer needs to be able to think creatively and generate original concepts

• Communication: A design engineer should be able to clearly explain technical ideas to stakeholders and cross-functional teams

• Project Management: A candidate should have the ability to manage projects, deadlines, and budgets effectively

• Problem-Solving: The candidate should present evidence of their ability to recognize problems, find solutions, make judgements, and manage trade-offs in design decisions

• Software Skills: Computer-aided design (CAD) software expertise is required

• Passion for innovation and design: A candidate should demonstrate a genuine interest in product design and a passion for the field.
