Role Summary/Purpose The Apigee Engineer will work on API development, REST specification development, and Apigee related engineering work. This includes developing, enhancing, and bug-fixing shared flows, policies, service-callouts , fine-tuning and enhancing the overall Apigee overhead of Synchrony APIs Key Responsibilities The Apigee Engineer will be responsible for developing, automation functionality, and enhancing enterprise-wide API gateway policies and functionality. The Apigee Engineer lives and breathes REST best practices and serves as the source of knowledge for RESTful API development. Day to day the Apigee Engineer will work on tooling, policies, and functionality for the API gateway inclusive of enterprise-wide changes to logging, security, and error policies. The Apigee Engineer will ensure all components are thoroughly tested and validate with consumers prior to pushing any configurations to production. Required Skills/Knowledge Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related degree with 0-18 months of experience in Information Technology or in lieu of degree 2- 3 years of experience in Information Technology. 0-18 months of work experiencein API development using Apigee(preferred) or any other similar API Gateway Product. Technical Expertise in Node JS , JavaScript and XML . Strong Experience with Agile application development and familiarity with tools like JIRA, Bitbucket Strong Experience with continuous integration environments and using tools like Jenkins Strong cross-functional team player with the ability to work seamlessly across a matrix organization Strong attention to detail in a team environment Strong oral and written communication, analytical and problem-solving skills Desired Skills/Knowledge API Specification Design in JSON and YAML API development in an enterprise setting DevOps Process Fundamentals Eligibility Criteria Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related degree with 0-18 months of experience in Information Technology or in lieu of degree 2- 3 years of experience in Information Technology. Work Timings: 02 :00 PM - 11:00 PM IST (WORK TIMINGS: This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
