PURPOSE OF JOB As a NOC L2 Technician specializing in DWDM and Fiber, you will be responsible for ensuring the high availability and performance of our optical network infrastructure. You will monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain DWDM and fibre-optic systems, ensuring seamless data transmission and connectivity. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering) or equivalent experience. Proven experience in DWDM and Fiber-optic network operations and maintenance. Knowledge of DWDM technologies and optical network components (e.g., mux/demux, transceivers, ROADMs). SKILLS & JOB COMPETENCIES REQUIRED Familiarity with fibre optic cable types, terminations, and testing. Certification in relevant technologies (e.g Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Fiber Optic Association like Tejas) is a plus. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work in a 24/7 operational. environment, including on-call support. KEY ROLES / RESPONSIBILITIES Network Monitoring: Continuously monitor the optical network for performance, faults, and alarms. Use network management tools to identify and respond to issues promptly. DWDM and Fiber Maintenance: Perform maintenance and configuration tasks on DWDM systems and fiber-optic equipment. Identify and resolve fiber optic cable and connectivity issues. Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve network incidents and outages in a timely manner. This includes identifying and fixing issues related to DWDM, optical amplifiers, splitters, and fiber connectivity. Capacity Planning: Assist in capacity planning and network expansion, ensuring that DWDM and fiber resources meet the growing demands of the organization. Documentation: Maintain accurate records, diagrams, and documentation of DWDM and fiber-optic configurations and changes. Security and Compliance: Ensure that DWDM and fiber infrastructure comply with security best practices and industry standards. Implement access controls and security measures to protect the network. Vendor and Equipment Management: Collaborate with vendors, manage relationships, and procure necessary equipment and maintenance contracts. Collaboration: Work closely with L1 and L3 network engineers and cross-functional teams to resolve issues and implement network changes
