Job Description

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing the full payroll cycle, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, and guaranteeing timely disbursement of salaries. This role requires in-depth knowledge of Indian payroll systems, taxation, and statutory compliance, along with proficiency in payroll software and attention to detail.
 
How your day will look like/Job responsibility
  • End-to-End Payroll Processing: Manage the complete payroll cycle, ensuring accuracy and compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Statutory Compliance: Ensure compliance with Indian payroll regulations, including Provident Fund (PF), Employee State Insurance (ESI), Professional Tax (PT), Gratuity, Labour Welfare Fund (LWF), and Income Tax (TDS) deductions.
  • Taxation and Filing: Handle tax computations, withholdings, and remittances for income tax (TDS). Ensure timely filing of returns and generate Form 16 and Form 24Q for employees.
  • Employee Queries: Address and resolve employee queries related to payroll, taxation, benefits, and deductions promptly.
  • Audit Reconciliation: Conduct regular payroll audits to ensure accuracy and compliance, identifying discrepancies and rectifying them in a timely manner.
  • Monthly Year-End Reports: Prepare and deliver accurate payroll reports for management and statutory bodies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Consulting Advisory: Provide expert advice on payroll-related issues, statutory obligations, and changes in tax laws.
Education Work Experience
  • 4- 8 years of experience in payroll processing and consulting in India, with expertise in Indian labor laws, taxation, and compliance.
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Knowledge
  • In-depth understanding of Indian payroll systems and statutory compliance (PF, ESI, PT, income tax, etc.).
  • Experience working with payroll software like SAP, ADP, Zoho Payroll, or other Indian payroll solutions.
  • Knowledge of Indian taxation, including TDS calculations, filings, and compliance with Indian Tax Department regulations.
Skills
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with clients and employees.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
  • Proficiency in using payroll automation tools and integrating them with accounting systems.
  • Capability to adapt to changes in legislation and compliance requirements while working under tight deadlines.
