JOB PURPOSE

The Clinical Psycho Oncologist is a core member of the Oncology team meeting the psychosocial needs of patients and their families touched by Cancer. The Psycho-oncology service caters to both Adult and Pediatric cancer patients. The service engages in a broad spectrum of cancer care from Prevention (Life style changes, Tobacco cessation, De-addiction, Genetic counseling etc.), Diagnosis- to-treatment through survivorship to Palliation, Grief and Bereavement management.

The Clinical Psycho Oncologist is responsible for psychosocial screening, assessment and provide evidence-based psychosocial interventions to cancer patients and their family members.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Patient Services

Offer psychosocial care to patients referred to HCG, either through Referrals from various consultants of HCG or independent referral or cases allotted by the Head of Psycho-oncology Service.
Document, maintain and monitor patient records.
Provide feedback to referral source.

Academic Program
Undertake teaching and academic activities
Participate in Academic activities of the department & of the centre
(Tumor Board meetings, Seminars, Journal club, CasePresentation etc.)

Research Program & Commissioned Research
Take active part in the research program and associated activities by leading assigned projects and programs
Create data base through research
Plan & execute projects
Prepare grant proposals
Publish at least ONE paper annually

Doctors, Nurses & Social Workers Training
Develop & conduct training programs.
Supervise & undertake clinical training & activities associated with programs

Other
Play an active role in creating and promoting HCGs brand image, vision, mission etc.
Manage effectively the work of any employee assigned to the care of this position
Carry out any other responsibility assigned by the Director & the Head of Psycho-oncology service
