Job Description

Role Overview:
The Technology/Software Solutions Salesperson will be responsible for driving sales of Feathersofts suite of technology solutions to colleges, universities, research institutions, and academic organizations across the United States. This role requires a strong understanding of the Higher Education landscape, excellent sales acumen, and the ability to articulate the value proposition of complex software and AI solutions to a diverse range of stakeholders, including faculty, researchers, IT leaders, academic administrators, and institutional leadership. A must-have is familiarity with the Higher Education ERP ecosystem and a proven partnership orientation to build collaborative relationships with institutions. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, results-oriented, and passionate about the potential of technology to advance education and research.
Responsibilities:
  • Sales Strategy and Execution: Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve and exceed sales targets within the US Higher Education market.
  • Lead Generation and Qualification: Proactively identify and qualify new sales leads through various channels, including networking, industry events, academic conferences, referrals, and targeted outreach.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key stakeholders in Higher Education institutions, emphasizing a partnership orientation for mutual success.
  • Needs Assessment and Solution Selling: Understand the unique needs and challenges of Higher Education institutions related to research data management, student success initiatives, operational efficiency, research infrastructure, and fostering innovation. Tailor and present compelling value propositions for Feathersofts data platforms, AI solutions, and point solutions, with an understanding of how these integrate with their existing ERP ecosystem .
  • Product Demonstrations and Presentations: Conduct engaging and informative product demonstrations and presentations to clearly articulate the features, benefits, and ROI of our technology solutions within the context of academic and research environments, highlighting integration capabilities with ERP systems .
  • Proposal Development and Negotiation: Develop and present persuasive sales proposals, navigate complex institutional procurement processes, negotiate pricing and terms, and close sales effectively, while fostering a collaborative and partnership-focused approach.
  • Sales Pipeline Management: Maintain an accurate and up-to-date sales pipeline in CRM, tracking all sales activities and progress towards targets.
  • Market Intelligence and Feedback: Stay informed about trends in Higher Education technology, the competitive landscape, and customer feedback, particularly regarding the ERP ecosystem . Provide valuable insights to the product and marketing teams to inform product development and messaging tailored to the academic sector.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including product development, marketing, and customer success, to ensure seamless customer onboarding and ongoing support for academic clients, with a focus on building strong, lasting partnerships .
  • Industry Engagement: Represent Feathersoft at academic conferences, higher education technology events, and other networking opportunities to build brand awareness and generate leads within the sector, emphasizing our commitment to partnership .
  • Achieving Sales Targets: Consistently meet or exceed assigned sales quotas and performance metrics.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, Education Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of proven sales experience selling technology solutions (preferably software, data platforms, or AI) to the Higher Education sector.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities within Higher Education, including academic research workflows, student information systems, learning management systems, and institutional data management.
  • Must-have: Demonstrated familiarity with the Higher Education ERP ecosystem , including major vendors (e.g., Ellucian, Oracle, SAP) and their functionalities.
  • Familiarity with research data management best practices, grant funding processes, and academic technology infrastructure.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with a strong partnership orientation focused on building trust and mutual value.
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills, with experience navigating institutional procurement while fostering collaborative agreements.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot).
  • Ability to travel within the US as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in a relevant field.
  • Existing network of contacts within US Higher Education institutions.
  • Experience selling SaaS-based solutions to academic clients, with integration experience with ERP systems .
  • Understanding of data analytics and AI applications in research and education, and how they can complement existing ERP infrastructure .
  • Experience with solution-selling methodologies tailored to the Higher Education market, emphasizing long-term partnerships .
