Role : Full Stack Engineer About Benesse Benesse is the largest education company of Japan and among the top 5 largest in the world. We have been operating in Japan for the last 65+ years. Under the philosophy of "Benesse" ("Bene"=Well, "Esse"=Being), we have broadened our portfolio to cover child care and elderly nursing care, but a dominant part of our business still is in the core education space - pre K, K12, higher education and professional courses. Other than Japan, we are present in seven countries- mostly in South East Asia and China. We offer comprehensive services and solutions (both analog and digital) to schools (B2B2C) and students (B2C) directly (After school tutoring, Subscription courses, English language assessment, Entrance exam preparation, etc.) to enhance their academic performance and help them enter top- tier universities globally. Benesse In India Benesse has an aspiration to positively impact the education space in India, creating and contributing. towards its evolution to support the dreams of the "next gen". We are now in the growth stages of our work on the K12 education space in India, mainly through partnership with and by providing solutions to schools. In AY 2021-22, Benesse conducted a few pilot projects with some of the leading schools through a Proof of Concept (PoC) of our core student assessment and study support offerings. In the current AY 2hidden_mobile, we have expanded the scope of our offerings, increasing our coverage of schools, building our India team and developing our ed-tech and other products (in B2B, B2B2C & B2C) and offerings further. Alongside, we are working on identifying other opportunities of growth and partnerships in the country. For the upcoming AY 2hidden_mobile we have already expanded our geographical presence across multiple regions in India and have a stable set of B2B and B2B2C offerings for our rapidly growing clientele of partner schools there. Responsibilities Design client-side and server-side architecture Build the front-end of applications through appealing visual design Develop and manage well-functioning databases and applications Write effective APIs Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade software Create security and data protection settings Build features and applications with a mobile responsive design Write technical documentation and analysis to improve software Skills & Eligibility 3+ yrs of strong working experience in building and maintaining web apps using PHP, jQuery, Bootstrap, JavaScript, MVC, CSS, HTML and node js. Strong Experience in working with REST API Integration and handling remote data using JSON. Proficient in SQL, NoSQL (MongoDB)database. Creating self-contained, reusable, and testable modules and components Thorough understanding of the responsibilities of the platform, database, API, caching layer, proxies, and other web services used in the system. Strong understanding of the web development cycle and programming techniques and tools. Write clean code to develop functional web applications. Good knowledge in AWS Cloud. Good To Have A passion for and interest in the education field and human growth. Comfortable working with ambiguity and small 0-1 phase teams. Willingness to take on the challenge of 0-1 phase journey like as Seed/ Series round. An ability to work with a sense of end-to-end ownership Work as part of the founding team and the counterparts in Japan to align on business priorities. Needs to be proficient with Agile development Experience in building an in-house development Experience on LMS Web Services. OOPS and Design Pattern Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git Knowledge of Node JS/Angular JS/React JS is a plus. Ability to assist in rolling out of new projects and troubleshooting. Create and modify dashboard reports to meet reporting needs in PHP Experienced in Object-oriented design and programming Experienced in Database concepts and SQL queries. Experienced in Agile Software Development. Good communication skills to engage with customers and other cross functional teams.
