Role & responsibilities
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Software Engineer with expertise in Azure DataBricks and SQL to independently develop high-quality, error-free code while mentoring junior team members. The ideal candidate will contribute to application design, development, testing, and documentation, while working closely with Lead Engineers to shape technical direction and foster continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Independently develop, test, debug, and document code based on user stories and application requirements.
- Provide input to technical designs and develop features/components with a solid understanding of functionality.
- Review and optimize existing components for performance, cost, and quality.
- Perform unit testing, create test scenarios, and validate results.
- Mentor and support junior developers (Developer 1 & 2).
- Identify recurring issues and propose solutions or design enhancements.
- Collaborate with Lead Engineers on technical decisions and design reviews.
- Manage module-level project activities including estimation, reporting, and documentation.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for defects and suggest preventive actions.
- Ensure adherence to coding standards through peer reviews and documentation.
- Promote reuse by identifying/creating reusable modules.
- Support release processes and ensure successful deployments.
- Complete relevant training and certifications in a timely manner.
Must-Have Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure DataBricks, including DataBricks notebook management.
- Proficient in SQLconstraints, operators, data modification, and complex queries.
- In-depth knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
- Strong debugging and unit testing capabilities.
- Ability to manage end-to-end delivery of features/modules independently.
- Understanding of domain-specific business logic and application flow.
- Experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF) and MongoDB.
Good-to-Have Skills
- Familiarity with data modeling and data processing pipelines.
- Exposure to Azure Cloud Services and other platforms.
- Understanding of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and build-release automation.
- Documentation skillstechnical artifacts, peer code/document reviews.
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or Scala.
- Technical certifications in Azure Data or SQL domains.
