The Mainframe Technical Architect will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and optimizing mainframe solutions to meet the organization's strategic goals and requirements and ensuring seamless integration with DevOps practices. This role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and clients to deliver innovative and reliable mainframe solutions. Years of Experience: 15+ Key Responsibilities: Analyze business requirements and technical constraints to design comprehensive mainframe solutions. Develop architecture blueprints, specifications, and documentation for mainframe systems. Lead efforts to integrate mainframe environments into our DevOps pipelines, automating processes for continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) and ensuring consistency across platforms. Evaluate and recommend the use of new technologies or mainframe enhancements to improve performance and efficiency. Collaborate with development teams, infrastructure specialists, and other architects to ensure seamless integration of mainframe systems with other IT components. Design and implement data exchange protocols and interfaces for interoperability with modern applications and services. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in mainframe systems through thorough analysis and tuning. Implement best practices and optimization strategies to ensure the highest level of mainframe performance and availability. Ensure mainframe solutions meet security and compliance requirements, including data protection, access controls, and auditing. Conduct security assessments and recommend improvements to safeguard sensitive information. Identify and address potential risks in mainframe solutions, developing contingency plans and failover strategies. Stay updated on industry trends and emerging threats to proactively mitigate security and operational risks. Create detailed technical documentation and architecture diagrams for mainframe solutions. Collaborate with external vendors for mainframe-related products and services. Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives. Lead initiatives for the ongoing enhancement and modernization of mainframe solutions. Evaluate and recommend updates to mainframe hardware, software, and processes. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Proven experience as a Mainframe Solution Architect or a similar role. Expertise in DevOps practices and tools, such as Jenkins, Git, Ansible, Docker, and Kubernetes. Strong expertise in mainframe technologies, including IBM z/OS, COBOL, JCL, CICS, and DB2. Knowledge of modern integration methods, such as RESTful APIs and middleware. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders. Familiarity with security and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) as they apply to mainframe systems. Relevant certifications (e.g., IBM Certified Application Developer, Certified Information Systems Security Professional) are a plus.
