Job Description

    Role Overview

    The Planning & Scheduling team plays a central role in project success by creating and monitoring schedules, managing resources, analyzing delays, and facilitating effective coordination among teams and stakeholders. This position varies by experience level, from hands-on execution to strategic planning leadership.


    Key Responsibilities

    Levels 5A, 5B, 5C Planning Executive / Planning Engineer

    1. Schedule Development

    • Develop and update project schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project.

    • Maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) aligned with project phases and deliverables.

    2. Resource Planning

    • Prepare and monitor resource histograms for manpower, equipment, and materials.

    • Assist in project organization chart development.

    3. Critical Path Analysis & Delays

    • Perform basic Critical Path Method (CPM) analysis to identify key activities and possible delays.

    • Recommend recovery actions in case of slippage.

    4. Monitoring and Reporting

    • Track progress against baseline schedules.

    • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports, including S-curves (cost, revenue, and manpower).

    5. Risk & Contingency

    • Support in identifying risks and proposing contingency actions for high-risk tasks.

    6. Review Meetings

    • Participate in internal, client, and subcontractor review meetings.

    • Share schedule progress and updates.


    Levels 4B, 4C Senior Planning Engineer / Lead Planner

    1. Schedule Development

    • Develop and validate multi-level schedules; review execution updates and changes.

    • Ensure logical sequencing and milestone mapping.

    2. Resource Planning

    • Optimize manpower and material planning across multiple schedules.

    • Prepare and approve project org charts.

    3. Critical Path and Delay Analysis

    • Conduct detailed CPA and refine recovery plans with project execution teams.

    4. Monitoring and Reporting

    • Supervise and validate reporting across projects; assess project performance using S-curves and variances.

    5. Risk Management

    • Evaluate critical risks and formalize mitigation plans.

    6. Review Meetings

    • Lead internal, client, and subcontractor reviews with planning insights.

    • Address scheduling concerns and drive alignment.

    7. Process Adherence & Improvement

    • Ensure compliance with planning standards; propose improvements in planning tools and practices.

    8. Team Support

    • Assist in onboarding, mentoring, and training new planners.

    • Uphold a culture of planning excellence and knowledge sharing.


    Level 4A Planning Manager / Head of Planning

    1. Schedule Development

    • Define standard project planning frameworks and scheduling practices across the organization.

    • Oversee schedule integration across multi-project portfolios.

    2. Resource Planning

    • Approve consolidated manpower and material allocation strategies.

    • Monitor trends and guide long-term resource optimization.

    3. Critical Path and Delay Strategy

    • Review and approve CPA and high-level delay mitigation strategies.

    • Align recovery plans with organizational priorities.

    4. Monitoring & Strategic Reporting

    • Lead performance reporting for senior leadership using consolidated dashboards and S-curves.

    • Derive strategic insights to support business decisions.

    5. Risk Frameworks

    • Create standardized risk and contingency planning frameworks.

    • Ensure project teams are trained and aligned on implementation.

    6. Review Leadership

    • Chair high-level review meetings with internal, client, and vendor teams.

    • Resolve escalated planning issues and enforce accountability.

    7. Process Development

    • Drive process digitization and integration with ERP/MIS systems.

    • Continuously upgrade planning protocols to meet business needs.

    8. Organizational Development

    • Define KRAs/KPIs for the planning team.

    • Guide hiring, career development, and performance tracking initiatives.

    • Foster continuous improvement and team learning.


    Qualifications & Education

    • For 5A5C: Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering with 26 years experience.

    • For 4B4C: B.E./B.Tech + 6-10 years in project planning.

    • For 4A: B.E./B.Tech with 10-15+ years of experience, including at least 3 years in leadership roles.


    Preferred Skills

    • Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, MS Excel, PowerPoint

    • Knowledge of S-curve, Earned Value Management (EVM), CPA, risk matrices

    • Strong reporting, communication, and team coordination skills

    • Familiarity with ERP integration, MIS systems, and construction workflows

    • Certification in PMP or PSP (Planning & Scheduling Professional) is an advantage
