Wintel and Linux Administrator @ Same Page

Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and versatile Wintel and Linux Administrator to manage, support, and optimize our Windows and Linux server environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in both Microsoft Windows Server (Wintel) and various Linux distributions, ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of our IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

Windows (Wintel) Administration:

• Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server systems (2016/2019/2022).

• Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and other Windows server roles.

• Perform patch management, system updates, and OS hardening.

• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot hardware/software issues.

• Manage virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.

Linux Administration:

• Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.).

• Manage services such as Apache, NGINX, SSH, FTP, Samba, and NFS.

• Perform patching, kernel upgrades, and security hardening.

• Script automation tasks using Bash, Python, or other scripting languages.

• Configure and maintain system monitoring and alerting tools (Nagios, Zabbix, etc.).

General Responsibilities:

• Manage backup and recovery solutions for both Windows and Linux servers.

• Ensure compliance with IT policies, security standards, and best practices.

• Work with cross-functional teams for system integration and support.

• Document systems, procedures, and configurations.

• Participate in on-call rotations and after-hours maintenance activities.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Windows Server and Linux administration.

• Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, firewalls, load balancers).

• Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware ESXi, Hyper-V).

• Experience with scripting in Bash/Shell, Python and PowerShell.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

• Familiarity with ITIL processes and incident/change management.

• Good troubleshooting and analytical skills.

• Strong communication and documentation skills.

• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Certifications:

• Certifications such as MCSE, RHCSA/RHCE, CompTIA Linux+, VMware VCP.
