Job Description
Job Title: Emergency Consultant / Senior Resident / Assistant Professor Emergency Medicine
Location: Gautam Buddha Chikitsa Mahavidyalaya, Subharti Hospital, Dehradun
Position Overview:
We are looking for a highly skilled Emergency Consultant to join the Emergency Department of our 780-bed multi-specialty teaching hospital. This role demands expertise in handling critical emergencies, trauma cases, and life-threatening conditions with precision and urgency. The consultant will play a key role in delivering rapid medical interventions, stabilizing critically ill patients, and ensuring optimal emergency care.
Key Responsibilities:
Emergency & Trauma Care
- Provide immediate assessment, stabilization, and management of critically ill and trauma patients.
- Perform emergency procedures such as endotracheal intubation, mechanical ventilation, central line placement, and emergency thoracostomy.
- Handle cardiac arrest, stroke, sepsis, shock, multi-organ failure, and major trauma cases with swift decision-making.
- Lead resuscitation efforts and code blue responses within the hospital.
- Manage disaster response and mass casualty situations in coordination with the trauma team.
Emergency Department Management & Coordination
- Oversee triage operations, ensuring accurate patient prioritization and timely interventions.
- Collaborate with surgical, critical care, anesthesiology, and radiology teams for seamless emergency care.
- Optimize workflow efficiency in the Emergency Department to enhance patient outcomes.
- Ensure strict adherence to emergency protocols and infection control measures.
Teaching & Academic Contributions
- Train and mentor junior doctors, residents, and nursing staff in emergency procedures and protocols.
- Conduct hands-on simulation-based training for advanced life support, trauma care, and airway management.
- Lead case discussions, morbidity/mortality meetings, and quality improvement programs.
- Contribute to curriculum development in emergency medicine training programs.
Research & Continuous Learning
- Engage in clinical research and publish in peer-reviewed emergency medicine journals.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in emergency medicine and incorporate evidence-based practices.
- Participate in workshops and national/international conferences on emergency and trauma care.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education: MD/DNB in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Anesthesia, or Critical Care.
Experience: Relevant experience in emergency care and trauma management.
Skills: Quick decision-making, leadership in high-pressure situations, proficiency in emergency procedures.
