About the Role
We're assembling a product-focused in-house tech team at Vserve Group, and were looking for a Lead Backend Developer to architect scalable backend systems, drive best practices, and mentor a growing team. If you're the kind of person who balances clean code with clear leadershipand builds systems that scale without dramayoull fit right in.
Youll work across real estate, travel, and other internal platformstools that support real business workflows. Experience with CRMs, SaaS platforms, or high-scale APIs will definitely give you an edge.
What Youll Be Doing
- Architect and implement robust backend systems using Node.js (NestJS or Express.js)
- Lead code reviews, drive refactoring where needed, and maintain high engineering standards
- Design and optimize API structures, database schemas, and integration layers
- Collaborate closely with the frontend team (React.js) to deliver seamless experiences
- Manage performance tuning, load handling, and system maintainability from day one
- Contribute to CI/CD, deployment workflows, and development automation
- Mentor junior developers and shape a collaborative, high-performing engineering culture
- Align backend decisions with product goals and business logic
What Were Looking For
- 6+ years of Node.js backend development experience (Express.js/NestJS)
- Strong understanding of SQL databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL), schema design, and data integrity
- Experience with Redis or other caching systems
- Proven leadership in team settingstech direction, mentoring, and project management
- Background in building SaaS platforms, CRMs, or internal business tools
- Solid grasp of RESTful API standards, authentication (JWT/OAuth), and role-based access
- Hands-on experience with Git, CI/CD, and cloud deployments (AWS/GCP preferred)
- Ability to evaluate third-party integrations and maintain them at scale
- Bonus: Familiarity with basic frontend concepts (React/HTML/CSS) for cross-team collaboration
Bonus Points For Experience With:
- Microservices, Docker, or Kubernetes deployments
- Message queues like RabbitMQ, Kafka
- Background jobs and schedulers (e.g., BullMQ, Agenda, or similar)
- Feature flag systems (LaunchDarkly, Unleash)
- Monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic)
