Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, monitor, and maintain SQL Server environments across development, staging, and production systems.
- Lead migration projects from older SQL Server versions (e.g., SQL Server 2008, 2012) to modern versions (e.g., SQL Server 2019/2022 or Azure SQL).
- Perform schema and data migrations, ensuring integrity and minimal downtime.
- Tune SQL queries, indexes, and database configurations to improve performance and scalability.
- Develop and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Collaborate with application developers, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to support business-critical databases.
- Create and maintain documentation for database environments, procedures, and configurations.
- Participate in audits and enforce data compliance and security standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related fieldor equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server (2012 through 2022).
- Proven experience migrating SQL Server databases from legacy versions to newer platforms.
- Strong skills in T-SQL scripting, stored procedures, and SQL Server Agent jobs.
- Experience with SQL Server Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO).
- Familiarity with SQL Server High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) technologies (e.g., AlwaysOn, clustering, replication).
- Understanding of security best practices (encryption, roles, access control).
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Azure SQL and cloud-based database services.
- Familiarity with tools such as SSIS, SSRS, or Power BI.
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or MCSA: SQL Server.
- Exposure to automation tools or scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
