Job Description
Any Technical Education Role Description:
We are looking for a motivated & passionate MYSQL/ MariaDB Database Engineer to be part of highly scalable multi-tiered real estate portal,applications and platforms to provide the best possible buying and selling experience for Magicbricks customers. The person should be penchant for high quality, consistency, maintainability, efficiency, security and all other things that make a product great and a high performance team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Work on recent versions of MariaDB / MySQL and understanding of MySQL / MariaB underlying storage engines, such as InnoDB, Connect etc.
- Responsible for implementing best practices in MySQL wherever required.
- Familiarity with other SQL/NoSQL databases such as Cassandra, MongoDB, etc.
- As part of the DB team, you will work closely with developers to perform schema level changes or perform DML operations on Test / QC / UAT / Live DB environments.
- Responsible for developing, testing, improving and maintaining new and existing database queries to help users retrieve data effectively.
- Responsible for ensuring our database systems run effectively and securely.
- Responsible to work with Product / Marketing / Sales teams on their Data request.
- Responsible to create / modify Database reports on day to day basis.
- Provide user / access management. Perform Backup and recovery of databases.
- Maintain archived data. Purge expired data etc.
- Generating various ad hoc reports by querying from the database as and when needed.
- Able to work under pressure and work effectively in a fast paced, highly data driven, changing environment
Skills:
- 5 to 8 years of experience in Developing database queries for applications, program and reporting as needed.
- Good understanding of database design, implementation, troubleshooting an maintenance.
- Must of experience of handling large data warehouse setup with TBs of data.
- Excellent knowledge of MySQL / MariaDB database.
- Excellent in writing and managing complex SQL data queries, stored procedures schema, triggers, etc
- Strong understanding of Linux operating system and Shell scripting.
- Should have hands on experience writing complex Stored Procedures. Should have good understanding of Triggers.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision with technical aptitude
- Ability to pro-actively take initiatives and propose solutions
- Extremely motivated and determined.
- Proficient in the scripting languages (shell, Perl, Python etc) for writing custom automation jobs
- Excellent data profiling abilities
- Good to have practical knowledge of Pentaho ETL tool (PDI, Kettle), Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server.
- Good to have ETL skills with variety of data sources like RDBMS, NOSQL, Hadoop,Google Analytics, Facebook AdWords, SAP, Salesforce etc.
