Job Summary:

 

As a Project Procurement & Contract Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the procurement process and contract administration for construction or engineering projects. Your role is vital in ensuring that the project acquires the necessary materials, equipment, and services in a cost-effective and timely manner while adhering to project specifications and compliance requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to determine procurement needs. Develop a comprehensive procurement plan, including sourcing strategies and supplier selection criteria.

 

Supplier Management:

  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements, including pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and monitor their performance.

 

Contract Administration

  • Draft, review, and administer contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and project requirements.
  • Monitor contract performance, including timelines, deliverables, and quality standards.
  • Handle contract modifications, claims, and dispute resolution as needed.

 

Cost Control

  • Monitor and control project procurement costs, tracking expenditures against budgets.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement cost-effective procurement strategies.

 

Quality control

  • Ensure that procured materials and services meet project quality standards and specifications.
  • Implement quality control measures in the procurement process.

 

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate procurement and contract documentation.
  • Prepare regular reports on procurement status, budget performance, and contract compliance for project stakeholders.

 

Compliance and Ethics:

  • Ensure that all procurement activities adhere to legal and ethical standards.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant regulations and industry best practices.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain management, or a related field (Masters degree may be preferred).
  • Professional certification in procurement or contract management (e.g., CSCP, CPSM, PMP) is advantageous.
  • Several years of experience in procurement and contract management within the construction or engineering industry.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, contract law, and industry regulations.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Typically office-based with occasional visits to project sites.
  • May require travel to meet with suppliers or attend project meetings.
  • Work hours may vary based on project deadlines and priorities.
