Job Description

This role is responsible for using a variety of tools to maintain and technically support complex and multi-platform systems/databases. This includes performance tuning of production databases, designing new database structures, data migration, initial database configuration, and operational support of live systems.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Day-to-day operations management of Oracle/SQL-related incidents, changes, Problems, and service requests.
  • Resolution or escalation of incidents and service requests within Service Level Agreements (SLA).
  • Management of Database change communications and procedures within the Cubic change control framework.
  • Monitor and report on database health using management tools, including SolarWinds OEM.
  • Perform daily network health checks identify and rectify any potential issues in a timely manner.
  • Install and commission Databases in RAC Azure, dataguard, RMAN Backup, SQL Server maintenance scripts, Always on setup
  • Create and maintain accurate, clear, and comprehensive database documentation.
  • Take responsibility for customer project deliverables.
  • Provide 3rd line support, including out-of-hours support in critical incidents, and participate in on-call support.
  • Comply with Cubic s values and adherence to all company policy and procedures. In particular, comply with the code of conduct, quality, security and occupational health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by their manager from time to time, as may be reasonably required of them.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Essential:
  • Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a technical management discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience in Database Administration.
  • Proficiency in Oracle SQL Server RDBMS management systems, RAC and standalone database installations, Oracle GoldenGate replication, Dataguard for high availability solutions, RMAN backup and recovery, Always On Setup, security vulnerabilities remediations, and patching.
  • Experience providing IT support in a 24/7 environment.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Windows, Linux, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Transact-SQL, and PostgreSQL.
  • Working knowledge of capacity planning and audits.
  • Experience in formal database administration training and certifications (e.g., MS SQL Server MCTS).
  • Proven ability to problem-solve, manage multiple projects, and work autonomously or as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Ability to handle assignments with a logical and detailed approach in a customer-focused, high-pressure environment.
Desirable:
  • Familiarity with cloud-based solutions such as MS Azure and Amazon AWS.
  • Experience providing out-of-hours support.
  • ITIL certification.
