Job Description
- Patient Assessment: Perform detailed history taking and clinical examination of surgical patients in OPD, IPD, and emergency settings.
- Surgical Assistance: Assist in a wide range of general surgical procedures including laparoscopic surgeries, appendectomies, hernia repairs, abscess drainage, and gastrointestinal surgeries.
- Emergency Management: Evaluate and stabilize patients with acute abdominal conditions, trauma, and other surgical emergencies.
- Pre & Post-Operative Care: Monitor patients before and after surgery, manage pain, infections, and complications, and ensure smooth recovery.
- ICU Support: Collaborate with ICU and critical care teams for post-op management of high-dependency surgical patients.
- Wound Care & Minor Procedures: Perform bedside procedures like wound debridement, suture removal, drain care, and dressing changes.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive and timely documentation of assessments, surgical notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
- Coordination: Liaise with radiology, pathology, anesthesia, nursing, and other departments to ensure efficient patient management.
- Academic Activities: Participate in case presentations, morbidity & mortality meetings, and clinical audits to foster continuous improvement.
- Education: MBBS with MS/DNB in General Surgery (recognized by MCI/NMC).
- Experience: 0-2 years in general surgery, with a mix of elective and emergency exposure.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in assisting and managing general surgical procedures.
- Confidence in handling surgical emergencies.
- Basic laparoscopic skills desirable.
- Strong clinical judgment and teamwork ability.
- Clear and professional communication with patients and team members.
- Proficiency in assisting and managing general surgical procedures.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and ATLS certification preferred.
