Job Description
About the Role:
We are looking for Government Relations professional based out of Chandigarh and will look after Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. He should be strong in stakeholder management, operational capabilities, excellent problem-solving skills in challenging situations.
Flipkart has a strong ambition of becoming a preferred partner with the State Government and aims to create a harmonized policy and business friendly environment to suit its business needs, manage stakeholders, building better capabilities and fast track project clearances. North and especially Haryana is a gateway for Flipkart operations including key states being Punjab, J&K and Himachal Pradesh provides a huge opportunity for long term development of e-commerce as segment in states to support the business, setting up fulfilment centers, hyperlocal stores, market access and identifying significant opportunities for market access for MSMEs and capacity building. The envisaged approach will help in the development of an eco-system that will support the sector, operational issues as well as protect consumer interest.
This position to be based out of Chandigarh, Haryana will focus on the following
Role & responsibilities
- E-commerce engagement in states; liasioning activities including stakeholder engagement, advocacy, regular cadence with state governments on licenses, permits, GST, taxation issue, facilitating and supporting ease of doing business.
- Act as a bridge between the organization and stakeholders by partnering with governments and district authorities to enhance business performance and create a favorable environment for e-commerce, particularly for SMEs.
- Ensure seamless resolution of infrastructure and regulatory issues by supporting cross-functional teams; Addressing, solving, finding solutions with government bureaucracy on issues related to operational challenges, labour, crisis and risk mitigation etc.
- Liasioning with Government of Haryana HSIIDC, state departments for licenses/approvals including exceptional approvals as and when needed to establish and operate Big Box in Haryana.
- Initiating formal meetings with state government officials, handle law and order issues, monitor government engagements (updates on the government, recent developments and movements in the government)
- Advocate for and safeguard the company's interests across various governmental levels, including state administration, police, district, and local authorities.
- Monitoring key developments which have the potential to impact Flipkarts operations in these states including business exigencies, license & permit requirements, support to APST and other specific requirements as part of escalation matrix.
- To mitigate crisis, labour Issues, law enforcement issues including post BBD and non-BBD times.
- Leveraging, discussing and engaging for strategic projects with state departments.
- Mapping of key state events; panel discussions, leveraging state associations to further Flipkart interests
- Scheduling meetings with Chief Minister, concerned ministers, law enforcement officials and government decision makers
- Engaging with state governments to drive and support market access, linkage opportunities, engaging with state government to support initiatives for nation building (FPO sourcing, capacity building, sustainability)
- Developing an eco-system including the consultation process in the ease of doing business in the State for e-commerce sector, market access programme etc.
- FK collaboration/partnership with Haryana & other State Governments on various subjects related to e-commerce besides identifying flagship schemes and marquee programs that contributes to the growth of MSMEs
- States like Himachal Pradesh, Punjab & J&K have been opening up to e-commerce marketplace on MSMEs, market access, market linkage programs besides exploring collaboration/partnership opportunities with the state governments on various subjects as part of ongoing outreach and engagement programs.
- MoU for Ease of doing business with an aim to create a conducive policy environment for promoting technology and process-based enterprise in the priority states including Haryana & Uttar Pradesh.
Preferred candidate profile
- 9-14 years of experience in Corporate affairs/liasioning role.
- Candidate should be strong in stakeholder management.
- Operational capabilities, excellent problem-solving skills in challenging situations besides Crisis Mitigation.
