Job Description
Financial Systems are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Engineering Manager - SAP Releases to lead and optimize our SAP release management processes. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end planning, coordination, and execution of SAP releases across our complex SAP landscape. Your deep understanding of SAP technologies, coupled with your proven expertise in cross-functional collaboration and risk management, will be essential to ensuring seamless and efficient releases that minimize disruption to our business operations and drive continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities:
- Software Release Engineering
- Lead and mentor the SAP release engineering team for complex SAP Greenfield implementations within regulated business landscape
- Define and implement release management strategies, ensuring high quality software releases.
- Deep understanding of SAP S/4 HANA landscape
- Develop and maintain retrofitting to automate SAP deployment and integration releases for different SAP projects running within Booking SAP landscape
- Deep understanding of SAP BASIS is must-have along with understanding of SAP modules ( OTC/ FICA)
- Worked in SAP Greenfield implementations and implemented
- Establish best practices for SAP release governance
- Manage version control strategies within SAP and in-depth knowledge of SAP authorization concepts and SAP security best practices
- Troubleshoot import issues and simulate Code migrations to Production
- Use Developer/repository tools like Git/ACDC
- HighLight Code impact analysis activities with Changes manage active Risk profile for large Code changes
- Risk Management and Mitigation:
- Proactively identify and assess potential risks associated with releases.
- Monitor releases for potential issues and escalate concerns promptly.
- Continuous Improvement and Automation:
- Analyze release performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
- Implement automation tools and processes to streamline release activities and reduce manual effort.
- Champion the adoption of DevOps principles and best practices within the SAP landscape.
- Familiarity with Software development lifecycle (SDLC)
Qualifications: Extensive SAP Experience:
- 11+ yrs. of experience in SAP BASIS administration, SAP Release management
- Deep understanding of SAP system landscape, transport management, and change management processes.
- Proven expertise in managing complex SAP releases involving multiple systems and modules
- Managing a Team of Developers(ABAP) + SAP BASIS + Functional as group
- Hands-on experience with SAP Solution Manager (ChaRM) or other release management tools
- Strong knowledge of SAP authorization concepts and security best practice
- Possess experience in designing, operating, and improving release, change request, and test management processes
- Have hands-on experience with SAP TMS and SAP Change Control (ChaRM)
- Cross-Functional Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of SAP modules (e.g., FI/CO, and FICA)
- Experience collaborating with diverse teams (DevOps, ABAP, Security, infrastructure, SAP FI Teams Business Teams)
- Technical Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of SAP BASIS technologies (e.g., NetWeaver, HANA, ABAP)
- Experience with operating systems (Linux, Windows) and databases (Oracle, HANA, SQL Server) (Good to have experience)
- Scripting skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation are a plus. ( Good to have experience)
- Experience with functional business process or previous experience on a Techno functional role
- Leadership and Communication:
- Building
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to work in complex software releases
- Ability to influence and build consensus across different teams and stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage complex SAP releases in complex Systems Landscape
Preferences.
- Experience with cloud-based SAP solutions (e.g., S/4HANA Cloud, SAP BTP)
- Certifications in SAP Basis, ITIL, or project management
- Experience with DevOps tools and Automation frameworks
- You have a background in project management, with experience in SAP ERP projects or ERP support organizations being a plus.
