Job Description
Job Summary:
The Senior Software Developer collaborates with other software developers, Client Services Team and managers to develop and maintain our Government Software Solutions, using the RPGLE and SQL programming languages. The incumbent will be responsible for keeping track of and adhering to project schedules and delivery dates, and for consistently delivering on-time and to specication throughout the software lifecycle. Additionally, the incumbent will participate in product design, bug verication, release testing, and beta support on applications software projects which may require research and analysis, and s/he will also provide second-level support. The ideal candidate will be a highly creative and self- motivated problem solver with the ability to handle numerous projects simultaneously. In addition, this strong communicator requires a proven ability to articulate ideas. S/he will possess excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, strong interpersonal skills, solid judgment, and the ability to work successfully in a team programming environment throughout the analysis and development process.
Primary Functions
- Analyze business requirements; identify product impact and possible implementation options and recommend the solution that best suits the needs of the customers and HLG.
- Create and maintain application code that meets design specications, follows HLG standards, and is easy to maintain.
- Perform code review for technical accuracy, standards, and functional compliance to the requirements.
- Provide Level 2 support of our applications.
- Ability to estimate work as requested.
- Work within deadlines in relation to product release timelines, and consistently complete assigned development tasks in required timeframes.
- Fulll administrative reporting requirements.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science or related discipline
- 5-7 years of IBM iSeries RPG-ILE programming experience. Experience with Power Systems running on the IBM I.
- Understanding of SQL -RPG ILE and RPG-ILE Free form.
- Demonstrated understanding of programming best practices
- Experience with software requirements specications, and strong interpretative skills to understand design requirements
- IBM DB2 experience Preferred, but not required
- Profound UI Preferred, but not required
- Experience with unit/integration/automation testing
- Agile practices knowledge
Soft/ Behavior Skills:
- Customer-service orientation
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Knowledge of IA county government tax operations or nancial systems.
