Role Description
This is a full-time remote role for a Team Lead AWS SRE Engineer. The Team Lead AWS SRE Engineer will be responsible for leading a team in managing and maintaining the reliability, scalability, and performance of AWS infrastructure. Day-to-day tasks include overseeing deployments, monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing automation for efficiency.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in AWS, Site Reliability Engineering, team leadership, and automation, along with the ability to work independently and remotely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and guide a team of SREs, fostering a culture of reliability and operational excellence.
- Design, implement, and manage scalable, resilient, and secure AWS infrastructure, including EC2, S3, and CloudFormation.
- Develop automation tools for deployment, monitoring, and incident management.
- Ensure system uptime, availability, and performance through proactive monitoring and optimization.
- Establish and enforce SRE best practices, automating tasks to improve efficiency.
- Oversee the implementation of CI/CD pipelines to enhance deployment speed and reliability.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using configuration management tools like Terraform and Ansible.
- Proactively monitor system performance, identifying and resolving potential issues before they impact operations.
- Manage incident response, performing root cause analysis and implementing preventive solutions.
- Collaborate with software engineering and DevOps teams to enhance platform reliability.
- Conduct capacity planning and cost optimization for AWS environments.
- Utilize strong scripting and programming skills in Python, Shell, or Perl to automate operational processes.
- Manage projects effectively, defining goals, timelines, and deliverables.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to drive solutions and resolve issues promptly.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- AWS Expertise: Hands-on experience with EC2, S3, CloudFormation, and other AWS services.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of infrastructure as code (IaC) and configuration management tools.
- Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in Python, Shell, or Perl for infrastructure automation.
- Site Reliability Engineering (SRE): Experience in automating tasks, monitoring system performance, and managing incidents efficiently.
- Leadership & Team Management: Prior experience leading or managing a team, fostering collaboration and growth.
- Project Management: Ability to oversee technical projects, manage deadlines, and communicate effectively.
- Independent & Remote Work: Capability to work independently and remotely while ensuring high availability of services.
- Problem-Solving & Communication: Strong analytical and interpersonal skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- AWS certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, AWS DevOps Engineer)
- Prior experience in leadership or management roles in SRE/DevOps teams
- Familiarity with security best practices in cloud environments
