The Software Chapter Lead combines subject matter technical expertise with strong leadership and mentoring capabilities to support and develop a team of software engineers (the Chapter ) working in different Value Streams across the organization. The person filling the role will be responsible for the professional development, coaching, and growth of individuals within the chapter, as well as driving alignment with organizational goals and ensuring high-quality delivery. Additionally, this person is expected to develop and maintain software design procedures, design checklists, and design controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and coach a group of professionals in the Software Chapter, ensuring technical excellence and continuous learning.
- Act as a point of contact for the chapters members, advocating for their needs, providing guidance, and resolving conflicts when necessary.
- Ensure that all work within the chapter aligns with Agile principles, including iterative development, collaboration, and rapid feedback loops.
- Own and maintain the software development procedures and design checklists thus ensuring continuous best practice adoption within the chapter.
- Help drive the adoption and integration of emerging technologies, tools, and best practices in the Software Chapter.
- Ensure the chapters goals are aligned with the broader organizational objectives and Agile practices.
- Foster a strong culture of collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and self-improvement across teams and chapters.
- Collaborate with other chapter leads, product owners, and scrum masters to ensure consistency across disciplines, best practices, and Agile principles.
- Support the career development of individuals within the chapter, setting and providing regular feedback to D4G goals, identifying training opportunities, and providing input to performance reviews.
- Encourage a growth mindset by identifying and facilitating learning opportunities, internal knowledge sharing, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Manage the chapter s training budget and allocate resources effectively.
- Coordinate the succession process to ensure continuity and stability within the chapter.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelors or Master s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum five years experience developing software for embedded systems, industrial protocols, databases and cloud platforms for industrial products.
- Experience leading and managing teams of technical professionals.
- Experience with performance management, career development, and team building in a leadership capacity.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop talent, providing both technical and personal growth support.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage with cross-functional teams, other leaders, and senior stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- A passion for continuous improvement and fostering a culture of innovation and knowledge sharing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of the power utility industry and the various monitoring players.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.) and Agile best practices.
- Proven experience in an Agile environment, preferably in a leadership or mentoring role.
