Job Description
What Youll Own
As Backend Product Lead, you will be at the intersection of business logic, platform strategy, and backend system capabilities, managing products that fuel:
- Recommendation & Personalization Systems
- Universal Search Feeds (XML, MRSS, JSON) for content syndication
- CMS & Content Workflow Management
- AI & Automation Initiatives aligned with streaming workflows
- Reporting, Metadata Enrichment, and Internal APIs
Key Responsibilities
- Define the vision, roadmap, and KPIs for backend-driven product features.
- Translate complex business needs into scalable, developer-friendly product requirements.
- Lead the development and launch of backend systems powering recommendation, search, CMS, and partner integrations.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Data, Editorial, and Distribution teams to ensure high performance and reliability.
- Drive API product design across internal and third-party use cases.
- Champion backend product initiatives that directly impact viewer engagement, content discovery, and operational efficiency.
- Leverage AI and automation to streamline content ingestion, metadata handling, and personalization.
What You Bring
- 6+ years in product management, with 3+ focused on backend or platform products.
- Deep understanding of APIs, feeds (XML/MRSS/JSON), microservices, and cloud architecture.
- Experience working with OTT platforms, AVOD/FAST channel ecosystems.
- Experience working with recommendation engines, search systems, CMS, or similar infrastructure in content/media tech.
- Strong collaboration with tech leads, engineers, and cross-functional teams.
- Excellent problem-solving, prioritization, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Familiarity with AI/ML applications in media/streaming is a strong plus.
