Job Description

We are looking for an experienced SIP Server Network Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of setting up and configuring SIP servers, particularly with Asterisk and other open-source PBX systems. You will be responsible for handling the signaling, call features, and SIP events associated with WebRTC applications. Additionally, your expertise in configuring network infrastructure, firewalls, and working with JavaScript libraries such as OpenSIP and JS.SIP will be essential to ensure smooth, secure communication across our platforms.

As a SIP Server Network Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining and optimizing our voice-over-IP (VoIP) infrastructure, ensuring the seamless handling of signaling events and real-time communications through WebRTC, while also managing the network configuration and security of our data center.

Responsibilities:
  • SIP Server Configuration: Set up and configure SIP servers using Asterisk and other open-source PBX platforms. Ensure the efficient handling of SIP signaling and media streams for VoIP services.
  • WebRTC Integration: Implement WebRTC calling functionality by configuring SIP signaling protocols and handling the integration with JavaScript libraries such as OpenSIP and JS.SIP.
  • SIP Event Management: Handle and troubleshoot SIP events, ensuring that call features like registration, authentication, and call setup/teardown function properly and efficiently.
  • Network Firewall Configuration: Configure and maintain network infrastructure and firewall rules for a data center environment to ensure secure communication and optimal performance for SIP services.
  • Signaling Call Features: Implement and manage signaling protocols and features (like call routing, call transfer, voicemail, etc.) for VoIP systems. Ensure high availability and fault tolerance for critical calling features.
  • Security: Configure network security protocols, including SSL/TLS for encrypted SIP signaling and media, along with security measures for WebRTC applications.
  • Real-Time Communication: Use WebSockets and other real-time technologies to facilitate communication between clients and servers, ensuring minimal latency for real-time voice and video calls.
  • Performance Tuning Monitoring: Monitor and optimize SIP server performance, troubleshoot issues related to call drops, latency, or connection failures. Utilize diagnostic tools to ensure smooth operations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with frontend and backend developers, network engineers, and system administrators to ensure integration with various communication systems and platforms.
  • Documentation: Maintain clear documentation of system configurations, network setups, and troubleshooting procedures for SIP servers and related systems.

Requirements:
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in configuring and managing SIP servers, including Asterisk and other open-source PBX systems.
  • SIP Protocol Knowledge: Strong understanding of the SIP signaling protocol and handling various SIP events, including registration, call setup, teardown, authentication, and call routing.
  • WebRTC Integration: Hands-on experience with WebRTC and related technologies, including managing SIP signaling for WebRTC calls using OpenSIP, JS.SIP, or similar JavaScript libraries.
  • Network Configuration: Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, VPN, and firewall configuration, particularly in a data center environment. Proficient in configuring firewalls, NAT traversal (STUN/TURN), and network security for VoIP systems.
  • Real-Time Communication: Experience with WebSockets and real-time communication technologies to support interactive voice and video calling features.
  • Security Best Practices: Expertise in securing VoIP and WebRTC systems, including implementing encryption for signaling and media traffic (SSL/TLS, SRTP), securing communication channels, and ensuring compliance with security standards.
  • PBX VoIP Experience: Familiarity with other open-source PBX platforms (e.g., FreePBX, Kamailio, OpenSIPS) and experience in managing VoIP infrastructure and services.
  • Problem Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills, particularly related to SIP event handling, call drops, and network performance issues.
  • Scripting and Automation: Ability to automate deployment and configuration tasks using scripts and tools, such as Bash, Python, or similar.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documenting processes, collaborating with teams, and liaising with other departments.
